Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow.
- Perform animal restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
- Prepare and administer medications as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals in our care, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff.
- Assist with animal catheterization and other medical procedures as needed.
- Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
- Provide basic animal care, including feeding, bathing, and exercising animals.
- Keep accurate records of patient information, treatments, and medications administered.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care practices.
Skills
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology to communicate effectively within the clinic.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy to assist in examinations and treatments.
- Experience with animal catheterization is a plus.
- Familiarity with equine care is beneficial for handling large animals.
- Strong understanding of kennel management practices for optimal animal welfare.
- Ability to perform basic animal restraint techniques safely and effectively.
