Overview
The Freight Operations Assistant works directly under the Company Manager here at Chupp Distributions Wholesale, serving as a critical resource for both operational efficiency and physical logistics. The primary responsibility of this role is the safe and efficient loading and unloading of freight from incoming and outgoing trucks, but it is expanded to include a sales function: online retail sales of select items with a generous commission structure. The ideal candidate is physically capable, highly reliable, detail oriented and understands the importance of maintaining clear communication with management.
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload incoming and outgoing trucks
- Organize unloaded material for inventory processing
- Actively participate in the online retail sales of specific items or excess inventory
- Drive sales in the online retail sales program to earn a high- paying commission on completed sales
- Assist the Company Manager in operational duties as needed
Experience
- Physical capability to lift, push and move heavy objects up to 60 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift is REQUIRED
- High level of dependability, punctuality and a strong work ethic is REQUIRED
- Prior experience in warehouse, logistics or freight-handling is PREFERRED
- Basic sales and customer service experience is a PREFERRED

- Highly motivated by commission and meeting sales target goals
- Must be comfortable and effective working under direct supervision and collaborating closely with the Company Manager
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the basic ability to discuss product features and pricing with online customers
