The Vehicle Inspector performs a variety of tasks in support of security engaged in the access and egress of government owned and privately owned vehicles to restricted areas within the installation. This position has a number of procedural processes which may require the use of, interpretation and adaptation of established guidelines.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Performs a variety of tasks in accordance with Army requirements and Internal Operating Procedures.
- Inspects vehicles for unauthorized materials to be in violation of Army, Federal or State Laws. Inspects the interior, trunks, storage areas, and underside of all vehicles in order to identify any unauthorized material, e.g. weapons, explosives, cameras, or other dangerous or illegal items both going into and leaving the enclosure area to the level as detailed in the applicable SOP for the position.
- Notifies security immediately when violations are found.
- Prepares logs and reports regarding vehicles passing in and outbound from the security gate. Turns them in daily as required.
- Inspects ID badges and visitor’s passes at installation access point and assists in the control of personnel access and egress.
- Possesses knowledge as to where all the contractors are working and the location of all buildings for deliveries.
- Will lock and unlock the gates at the security position.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality, seamless customer service.
- Supports the project Safety Plan though personal involvement in all aspects of Safety, including training, safety protective equipment and clothing and adhering to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades or skills.
- Performs other duties when security gates are closed due to inclement weather or at the direction of the client or company management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Timely, accurate, cost-effective performance of duties.
- Compliance with contract requirements and company policies and procedures, including Rules of Conduct.
- Working closely and harmoniously with other employees.
- Adherence to all safety and health rules and regulations.
- Prudent management of Government Furnished Property (GFP) assigned to and under employee’s jurisdiction.
Mandatory:
- US Citizenship.
- Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.
- Ability to perform assigned work tasks without more than normal supervision.
- Valid state driver’s license, with acceptable driving record.
- Able to perform work indoors and outdoors (subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions).
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug screening.
- Prior experience supporting a military base or civilian installation"
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time, sit, use of hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell.
- Ability to use standard office equipment to perform essential functions of the job (i.e., phone, computer, copier, postage meter, etc.).
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds and follow safe lifting procedures.
