At Gulfport Job Corps Center, some of our students are living away from home for the first time, and RA's play a vital role in helping them develop the habits, confidence, and life skills they need to succeed - so they can focus on building their futures.
For over 60 years, Job Corps has helped young people achieve successful careers in some of the country’s fastest-growing industries.
Administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps is the nation’s largest residential career technical training and education program helping young adults develop the skills, confidence, and education needed to succeed in the workforce and their communities.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
Residential Advisors help create a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for students ages 16–24 enrolled in the Job Corps program.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
Residential Advisors help create a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for students ages 16–24 enrolled in the Job Corps program.
In this role, you will:
- Supervise and mentor students in a residential dormitory setting
- Promote positive behavior, accountability, and leadership
- Lead dorm meetings, group activities, and student engagement event
- Monitor student safety
- Assist with recreational trips and student transportation
- Conduct dorm inspections and support facility upkeep
- Maintain documentation and student reports
- Support student development through coaching and guidance
- Help cultivate a respectful, safe campus environment free from harassment or intimidation
Mandatory:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Experience in residential programs or mentoring environments is preferred
- Experience working with youth or young adults is preferred
- Associate degree in counseling, social work, or related field is preferred
