Life Sciences Renewal Underwriter
The Life Sciences Renewal Underwriter will manage a Life Sciences renewal book ($5-6M) for the Mid-Atlantic territory. The book would be comprised of accounts from our Mid-Atlantic Region and New York Region. The position will primarily be focused on underwriting Life Sciences Casualty opportunities (Products and E&O), however the underwriter will be charged with cross selling and writing other lines of business, including Human Clinical Trials. Other lines of business include Package, Auto, WC, Umbrella and International. This Life Sciences Underwriter will be based in the Philadelphia branch.
The Life Science Renewal Underwriter will develop book growth, maintain superior relationships, and implement effective and profitable pricing rate strategies. Underwriting will include marketing and servicing accounts based on Chubb guidelines and strategies.
The position will be responsible for developing and implementing a business plan to grow the Life Sciences book through account retention, pushing rate per corporate guidelines and account management in the Mid-Atlantic and New York territories.
The Life Science Renewal Underwriter will have accountability for the financial performance of the Life Sciences book of business, achieving growth for the branches, region and territory. They will identify opportunities for growth within existing production sources, identify cross sell opportunities, conduct agency planning/goal setting including monitoring of progress and make regular broker and insured visits.
Qualifications
Skills Required:
Candidate will have 1-3 years commercial multi-line underwriting experience, preferably in Life Sciences casualty placements
Strong sales and marketing skills are also critical.
Must be able to demonstrate success in marketing, producer/book management and new business development. Also, the ability to successfully negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners and nurture key producer relationships.
The ideal candidate for the role will possess a high degree of proficiency with the underwriting process, risk analysis, and work effectively in collaboration with an Underwriting Associate.
Effective desk management is a critical part of this role.
Must have exemplary ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and coworkers and exhibit strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and proficiency with underwriting technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, pricing & strategies expected.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software required.
We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated to succeed and is results oriented with solid business acumen.
Salary grade for this position will depend on applicant’s experience.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
