What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Line Operator and Plant Technician position at Chrysan Industries Inc?
Job Summary
· Primary responsibility is for the position of Packaging Line Operator, including performing all functions for packaging (loading bottles, packing cases, labeling and palletizing cases).
· Responsible for keeping each line position running smoothly, promptly reporting any mechanical issues that arise, and working to resolve any issues as soon as possible.
· Cross train for plant operations support, including preparing products for production, packaging, shipping, and receiving of products.
Job Accountabilities
Packaging Line Operator
· Verifying the quality of empty bottles, caps, cases, and pallets to be used.
· Monitoring the function of the packaging line components (filler, capper, labeler, and case builder & taper) and reporting any issues.
· Ensuring quality is maintained throughout the day
o Correct fill volumes per monitoring of the weight scale
o Correct and consistent bottle markings (labels and date)
o Full cases being taped and marked correctly
· Learning how to maintain the equipment; managing, either directly or as part of a team, the Preventive Maintenance tasks required on a periodic basis to maintain the equipment.
· Managing, directly or with help from others, material changeovers including changing and testing the fluids, adjusting the line fixtures/stops for product changeovers.
· Managing or assisting with the unloading of bulk material from the tankers, as well as unloading of packaging materials (bottles, cartons, etc.) from incoming trucks as needed.
· Maintaining and adhering to proper work instructions, understanding the department risk assessments and ensuring compliance with Chrysan’s QMS system.
· Utilizing Chrysan’s PLEX ERP system to manage activities for the packaging line.
Plant Technician
· Preparing products for production and packages for distribution per specifications.
· Determining method of shipment, using knowledge of shipping procedures and routes.
· Maintaining clean and safe housekeeping for production and storage areas.
· Receiving materials and managing the loading/unloading of incoming and outgoing materials.
· Maintaining proper inventory levels and notifying management as materials or supplies are needed.
· Performing minor maintenance/repairs as needed.
· Assisting with periodic physical inventories and plant maintenance/cleaning.
· Driving forklift as required and performing other duties as needed.
· Working with Chrysan’s PLEX ERP system for managing activities and maintaining proper work instructions, as well as understanding and complying with Chrysan’s QMS system.
Job Qualifications
· High school degree or equivalent
· Flexible schedule depending on demand; overtime as needed
· Forklift experience required
· Valid Drivers’ License
Core Competencies
· Strong attention to detail – visual constancy between bottles, cases, and pallets is a must, as well as ensuring proper labeling for all packaged products
· Strong work ethic
· Ability to lift moderate-weight cases during the process as well as manage filled drums and pails for the plant operations requirements
Willingness to learn both the operation and maintenance of the equipment
Salary : $39,520 - $45,760
