Job Summary

Chrysalis is seeking a relationship-driven Development Officer to secure philanthropic support and expand community engagement in support of our mission. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position manages a portfolio of individual, corporate, foundation, and community donors.

The Development Officer will cultivate meaningful relationships through strategic engagement, stewardship, solicitation, and community outreach. The ideal candidate is an engaging communicator and passionate mission ambassador who can connect donors and community partners to the impact of Chrysalis’s services.

This position works collaboratively with executive leadership, program teams, Finance, Marketing and Communications, Board members, volunteers, and community stakeholders to align fundraising initiatives with organizational priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Major Gifts & Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to achieve annual revenue goals through individual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation support, planned giving, and special campaigns.
  • Donor Relationship Management: Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of individual, corporate, foundation, and community donors through personalized engagement, relationship building, and ongoing stewardship.
  • Corporate & Community Partnerships: Develop strategic partnerships with businesses, civic organizations, faith communities, and community leaders to increase philanthropic support and community engagement.
  • Prospect Development: Identify, research, qualify, and cultivate new donor prospects while expanding the organization's philanthropic network and pipeline of future supporters.
  • Campaign & Event Leadership: Lead fundraising campaigns, sponsorship initiatives, donor recognition events, and community engagement activities that increase awareness and financial support for the organization's mission.
  • Grant & Proposal Development: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prepare compelling funding proposals, donor presentations, impact reports, and stewardship communications that demonstrate measurable outcomes.
  • Marketing & Communications: Provide strategic oversight of marketing, branding, storytelling, donor communications, social media, and public relations initiatives to strengthen community engagement and enhance donor participation.
  • Volunteer & Board Engagement: Partner with Board members, committees, volunteers, and community leaders to increase philanthropic involvement, strengthen governance support, and expand volunteer leadership opportunities.
  • Department Leadership: Recruit, develop, coach, and evaluate Development staff while fostering collaboration, accountability, professional growth, and a high-performing fundraising culture.
  • Performance Management & Reporting: Monitor fundraising performance, maintain accurate donor records within the NetSuite system, prepare pipeline and revenue reports, and evaluate fundraising initiatives to support strategic decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Executive Leadership, Finance, Marketing & Communications, program leaders, volunteers, and community stakeholders to align fundraising initiatives with organizational priorities and maximize mission impact.
  • Mission Advocacy: Serve as an ambassador for the organization by representing nonprofit at community events, networking functions, speaking engagements, and donor meetings to promote the mission, values, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field required; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, major gifts, business development, donor relations, or relationship management.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate donor relationships, make funding requests, and secure philanthropic gifts or sponsorships.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, campaigns, and events.
  • Proficiency with NetSuite or a comparable donor-management, or financial system.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to travel locally.

Other Requirements

Must be able to pass fingerprinting and background clearances as required by Chrysalis and applicable licensing requirements. The position requires the ability to use standard office equipment, remain stationary for extended periods, and occasionally move materials or event supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
