What the Job is…
To support our growing needs, we are seeking a dependable, hands-on Production Utility Worker to serve as a flexible resource across our shop floor. This is a cross-trained role for someone who likes variety: on any given day you may be sorting a direct mail campaign, trimming and finishing signage, running a booklet-maker, binding books, packing an outbound freight shipment, receiving a pallet of substrate, or driving a completed order to a customer site.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, takes pride in careful work, and is comfortable shifting priorities as jobs move through the shop. This position is an excellent entry point into the print and sign trade, with clear opportunity to grow and specialize in press operation, finishing, or installation over time.
Core responsibilities include:
- Playing a supporting role within production, including hand bindery/finishing and direct mail. Experience and ability to run equipment or perform skilled tasks will increase the value of the position.
- Providing support to the shipping/receiving department, including packing boxes, preparing pallets, loading/unloading van and truck, etc.
- Move fluidly between assigned areas based on daily workload, deadlines, and staffing.
- Material handling
- Driving company delivery van and box truck to make deliveries to customers and vendors within the extended area.
- Representing the company in a professional manner when interacting with the public.
Who We Are Looking for…
All candidates must have at least one year of experience in a production, warehouse, manufacturing, or skilled-labor environment (preferably a print shop), in addition to the following qualities:
- Prior forklift experience preferred, but we will train if necessary
- Ability to lift boxes weighing 50 pounds
- Ability to read and follow job tickets and work instructions, measure accurately with a tape measure and ruler, and perform basic shop math, including fractions.
- Basic computer proficiency: email, shipping software, and job tracking or order entry systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to change tasks and priorities without losing accuracy.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality; willingness to work occasional overtime to meet deadlines.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license, clean driving record, and eligibility to be covered under the company’s commercial auto insurance policy.
