We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) to join our growing optometry practice. We are also happy to consider experienced Certified Ophthalmic Assistants (COAs) who are looking to grow their careers in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with patients, thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting, and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient medical and ocular histories.
  • Perform visual acuity testing, tonometry, pupil assessment, and other ophthalmic diagnostic testing.
  • Assist optometrists with patient examinations and procedures.
  • Conduct diagnostic testing, including OCT, visual fields, fundus photography, electroretinography and other imaging as needed.
  • Prepare examination rooms and maintain equipment.
  • Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Educate patients regarding testing, procedures, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain a professional, courteous, and compassionate demeanor with patients and coworkers.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification through JCAHPO.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in a comprehensive optometry or ophthalmology practice.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and testing.
