Overview
Christopher Whitney is working with a leading alternative investment manager with approximately $25 billion in assets under management, investing across public and private credit markets globally. We are seeking a Managing Director of Institutional Business Development to help drive the firm’s institutional fundraising and capital formation efforts.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying, developing, and converting new investor relationships across institutional channels, while helping expand the firm’s presence within the institutional allocator community.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Drive new business development efforts across institutional investor channels, including public and corporate pension plans, endowments, foundations, insurance companies, consultants, family offices, and OCIOs.
- Develop and execute targeted fundraising initiatives to support capital raising across the firm’s public and private credit strategies.
- Build and manage a pipeline of prospective institutional investors through proactive outreach, networking, industry events, and strategic relationship development.
- Lead investor meetings, presentations, and follow-up discussions with prospective allocators.
- Manage the fundraising process from initial outreach through due diligence and closing.
Market Coverage & Origination
- Expand the firm’s institutional market presence and develop new distribution opportunities.
- Maintain a strong understanding of institutional investor priorities, portfolio trends, and fundraising dynamics within alternative credit markets.
- Identify opportunities for strategic engagement with consultants, advisors, and institutional platforms.
- Partner with senior leadership on strategic fundraising initiatives and market expansion efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or CFA preferred.
- 12 years of institutional business development, fundraising, or capital raising experience within alternative asset management.
- Strong knowledge of private credit markets and institutional fundraising processes.
- Demonstrated success sourcing and converting new institutional investor relationships.
- Strong presentation, communication, and commercial skills.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong execution capabilities.
- Ability to travel as needed for investor meetings and industry conferences.
