What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll & Compliance Specialist (Part-Time) position at Christina Turner, Accountant LLC?
About Us
Christina Turner Accountant LLC is a small but growing accounting and tax practice seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Payroll & Compliance Specialist. This position is best suited for someone who enjoys solving puzzles, pays attention to details, and does not need constant supervision to get things done.
This is not a high-volume payroll processing position. We utilize a third-party payroll provider and need someone who can review reports for accuracy, identify discrepancies, troubleshoot issues, and follow through until matters are resolved. Every client is different, and the ideal candidate must be adaptable, willing to learn, and able to think outside the box.
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required for special projects. Saturday work and additional hours (30-40 hours per week) are required during tax season.
Pay: Starting at $15.00 per hour during the training and evaluation period (approximately 60 days). Upon successful completion of training and demonstration of proficiency, compensation may increase to $18.00-$22.00 per hour based on experience, accuracy, dependability, initiative, and the ability to perform duties independently.
Responsibilities
- Process and submit payroll information through our third-party payroll provider
- Review payroll reports, quarterly filings, and annual reports for accuracy
- Communicate with our payroll provider regarding payroll issues, corrections, tax notices, and account maintenance

- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll questions
- Prepare payroll summaries and reports for clients
- Assist with sales tax filings and other accounting projects
- Maintain confidential payroll and client information
- Organize and prioritize multiple deadlines
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned

- Minimum one year of payroll, bookkeeping, accounting, office administration, or related experience preferred

- Strong computer and technology skills
- Ability to review reports for accuracy and identify discrepancies
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and different client situations

What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
- Shows up for work consistently and on time
- Takes pride in producing accurate work
- Follows through on tasks and sees problems through to completion
- Is willing to ask questions and accept feedback during training
- Can think independently and work through problems
- Enjoys learning and adapting to different client situations
- Communicates professionally with clients, payroll providers, and government agencies
Training and Evaluation Period
The first 60 days are considered a training and evaluation period. Because every client has unique payroll and accounting needs, substantial hands-on training is provided. The evaluation period allows both the employee and the firm to determine whether the position is a good fit. Advancement in pay is based on demonstrated performance and the ability to successfully perform the duties independently, rather than length of service alone.
