We’re seeking a Food Service Assistant III – Host/Hostess to join our Nutrition Services team at Wilmington Hospital. In this vital role, you’ll be the friendly, caring face delivering meals to patients, ensuring their dietary needs are met with accuracy and empathy.
Position Details
- Title: Food Service Assistant III (Host/Hostess)
- Location: Wilmington Hospital
- Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
- Business Hours: 5:30 AM – 7:30 PM
- Hostess Shifts: 10 hours
- Primary Shifts: 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM & 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM; other shifts may vary based on department needs.
- Weekend & Holiday Rotation Required
- Deliver meals tailored to therapeutic diets and patient preferences
- Collect and process patient menu selections and diet orders
- Modify menus based on dietary guidelines and restrictions
- Provide compassionate, attentive service to patients and families
- Collaborate with clinical and dietary teams to ensure safety and satisfaction
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6 months of food service experience (preferred)
- ServSafe certification (preferred)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read diet orders and perform basic math
- Comfortable using iPads and basic computer systems
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout your shift
- Must pass a physical exam and drug screening
- Comfortable working in patient care areas and around cleaning supplies

This position has a starting rate of $18.08 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.15 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $22.18 per hour.
This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
