Job Summary:
An ICU Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective nursing care to patients using the nursing process and complying with accepted standards of progressive care nursing and the policies and procedures of Union Hospital.
Administers, monitors and documents medications and treatments within the scope of practice and monitors and reports expected and adverse reactions. Provides care in collaboration with patient, family and doctor. Demonstrates professionalism when interacting with others and contributes to a multi-disciplinary treatment plan.
One year of nursing experience - REQUIRED
2 years critical care experience - HIGHLY PREFERRED
Educational Requirements:
Associates of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associates Diploma (ADN)- REQUIRED
Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) – HIGHLY PREFERRED
Certification/Licensure Requirments:
Maryland Licensed Registered Nurse (or compact state) - REQUIRED
ACLS & BLS - REQUIRED

About the Intensive Care Unit (ICU):
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Union Hospital is an eight bed Medical/Surgical ICU (eight private rooms, and two negative pressure rooms).
This unit has bedside telemetry monitoring and computerized stations at the bedside to provide "real time documentation." A centralized wireless system is set-up throughout the organization, permitting telemetry monitoring to occur throughout the facility 24-hour surveillance is provided by PCU medical professionals (monitor technicians, registered nurses, etc.) educated and trained to respond immediately to any changes in a patient's heart rhythm.
