We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In-Home Respite Provider to offer essential support to children with disabilities, adults and elderly. In this role, you will be responsible for providing temporary relief and assistance to caregivers, ensuring the safety, well-being, and social development of client with disabilities in the comfort of their own homes. Your role will play a crucial part in improving the quality of life for both the client and their families.
CURRENTLY SEEKING A PART-TIME RESPITE PROVIDER. VARIABLE SCHEDULE - 3-20 HOURS/WK
Key Responsibilities:
1. Care and Companionship: Provide one-on-one care, companionship, and emotional support to client with disabilities while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
2. Engagement and Play: Develop age-appropriate and disability-specific activities and play routines to engage and stimulate the clients cognitive, physical, and emotional development.
3. Safety and Monitoring: Ensure the safety of the client at all times, proactively identifying potential risks, and taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents or injuries.
4. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the clients primary caregivers, therapists, and healthcare providers to ensure consistency in care and treatment plans.
5. Respite Care Scheduling: Work with families to schedule respite care sessions at times that are convenient for them while meeting the clients needs.
6. Community Integration: Encourage and facilitate the clients participation in community activities, as appropriate, to promote socialization and inclusion.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children with disabilities (3 years preferred).
Experience working with adults with disabilities (3 years preferred).
Experience working with elderly (3 years preferred).
Knowledge of disability-related care techniques and strategies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping clients with disabilities.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of each client.
Working Conditions:
- This is a part-time position - SHIFTS VARY, 3 HOURS/WK MINIMUM, 10 HOURS/WK AFTERNOON AVAILABILITY PREFERRED.
- Work primarily takes place in the client's home, but may also involve community outings.
- The role may periodically involve physical activities, including lifting and assisting with mobility.
