What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Young Adult Companion (2p-7p as needed) position at Christian Servants Home Care?
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated companions and personal assistants to offer essential support to an adult with autism who lives independnelty. In this role, you will be responsible for providing companionship and engaging activities while ensuring the safety and well-being to an individual in the comfort of their own home or in the community. Your role will play a crucial part in improving this person's quality of life.
CURRENTLY SEEKING A FILL IN/AS NEEDED COMPANION FOR YOUNG ADULT WITH AUTISM. HOURS 2:00P-7:00P POTENTIAL FOR ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Care and Companionship: Provide one-on-one care, companionship, and emotional support while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
2. Engagement and Play: Take initiative and engage in age-appropriate activities to stimulate cognitive, physical, and emotional development.
3. Safety and Monitoring: Ensure the safety of the adult at all times, proactively identifying potential risks, and taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents or injuries.
4. Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the parents and direct supervisor to ensure consistency in care and treatment plans.
5. Community Integration: Encourage and facilitate participation in community activities, as appropriate, to promote socialization and inclusion.
6. Supportive Home Care: Light house cleaning alongside and in some tasks for the individual to help maintain a clean home environment.
Qualifications:
Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities or mental health concerns.
Knowledge of disability-related care techniques and strategies.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping children with disabilities.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of each child.
Working Conditions:
- This is a part-time position - SHIFTS MAY VARY, 15-20 HOURS/WK PREFERRED.
- Work primarily takes place in the adult's home, but may also involve community outings.
- The role may periodically involve physical activities, including lifting and assisting with mobility.
