Overview: As a growing 501 C3, Non-profit organization, CRCI is always looking for new talented individuals who can be an addition to its efforts. It is CRCI’s Management's desire that each person involved with the organization (paid or not paid) has a burden for the lost, the sick, and the suffering. It is also important that all staff recognize that they are a representative of CRCI, and the actions will affect the community's outlook upon it. Staff is a representation of the CRCI program, and it will be expected for them to conduct themselves in a manner that would always promote and elevate the image of CRCI to the community. Any behavior that promotes a negative image of the organization is unacceptable.
Job Summary: The primary duty of the Maintenance Technician (M. Tech) is to provide maintenance services and technical support to all aspects of CRCI facilities and equipment. Maint. Tech will also be expected to lead, assist in and support the day-to-day and long-term operational activities of Christian Recovery Centers, Inc. by any means necessary. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: facility and automotive preventative maintenance and repairs, management of relevant databases, managing inventory, obtaining supplies, operating within the bounds of an approved budget, management/supervision of program residents, training residents and/or employees, record keeping, scheduling, and safety. M. Tech will attend all company meetings and training sessions as invited.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (or the ability to obtain through the CRCI GED program in the first year of employment).
- Driver’s License: This position may require the ability to operate a motor vehicle for employment purposes, including gathering supplies and parts to complete maintenance tasks and transport residents to and from job sites.
- Applicants must submit their MVR to CRCI prior to start of employment and will need to meet insurance eligibility requirements based on a history of infractions from a 3-5 year period. If the employee does not possess a valid drivers license, temporary accommodations may be made if possible. Lack of driver’s license may impact the employees compensation potential until such a situation is resolved.
- Clean drug screen: Applicants must submit to a drug and alcohol test prior to start of employment. Employees may be tested randomly throughout their employment.
- Prohibited Substances: This position requires that the M. Tech refrain from use and possession of any illicit drugs, prescription narcotics, alcohol, and nicotine products at all times while on CRCI premises, in CRCI vehicles, or anywhere CRCI residents, staff, or volunteers may be present. Nicotine is a prohibited substance for residents to use or possess, and any encouragement of such behavior may be detrimental to the recovery process of residents. Intoxication on company property will result in immediate termination.
Skills:
- Technical Expertise: This position requires the use of a digital task tracking software to manage individual functions of daily jobs. Basic comprehension of computer hardware and software is required. Applicants may be required to demonstrate proficiency in multiple disciplines ranging from an understanding of tools to the steps required to complete a job such as diagnosing faulty components of a vehicle. Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and digital systems is preferred, a willingness to learn is required.
- Interpersonal Skills: This position will require interaction with program residents, staff, volunteers, and the community. The ability to communicate effectively and represent CRCI in a professional and positive manner is vital.
- Problem Solving and Analytical Skills: All employees should be capable of understanding and solving complex problems that may occur on a regular basis. This does not mean that applicants must be capable of personally fixing all equipment, but they should be capable of understanding what the problem is and how to go about finding an appropriate solution.
- Adaptability: Performing facility and automotive maintenance and working in an environment with other people requires a high level of adaptability to new situations and the ability to respond appropriately to a variety of challenges.
- Time Management Skills: There will be a running list of tasks to be completed at all times. M. Tech should understand how to budget time and make accurate assessments of the amount of time it takes to complete these tasks.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Many tasks will require more than one person to complete. This position will often require that the M. Tech be responsible for residents of the recovery center, monitor their safety, and enforce compliance with the rules and regulations of the facility and program.
- Accountability: All CRCI employees are expected to hold themselves and others accountable to all company guidelines and represent themselves accordingly, both on and off the job.
- Ability to Cope with Stressful situations: Any job that operates within a residential recovery center or that requires interaction with program residents may experience, on occasion, situations that are sensitive or difficult to handle. As an employee of the residential recovery program, the M. Tech will be expected to manage crisis situations to minimize the potential for negative outcomes from the behavior of those around them. This may require mediation of disagreements between others, and the person in this position must be confident, competent, and level-headed. The M. Tech will have the authority to assign corrective actions to residents and will be able to recommend the removal of any person from a jobsite for behavior that a reasonable person would deem unsafe, unruly, or defiant.
- Safety will be a primary concern for this position, and this person should be capable of assessing situations to provide positive solutions in a timely manner. Support will be provided to M. Tech by other staff members whenever necessary.
Other Duties:
- Arrange the preventative and reparative maintenance of vehicles and equipment used by the Company. When necessary, a task should be referred to a licensed professional, but all tasks that are able to be completed internally should be done in a safe and timely manner. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Kitchen equipment
- Landscaping equipment
- Vehicles
- Trailers
- Minor Electrical
- Minor Plumbing
- Flooring
- Minor Roofing
- Minor HVAC
- Grounds management
- Set priorities for each task and respond to new assignments in a timely manner.
- Provide regular reports for all tasks completed and those which have not been completed, as well as budgeting and current needs.
- Daily update of assignments list on AirTable. This is done in conjunction with the Google Calendar to make sure that each company and event has specific residents assigned to fill the needs of the numbers represented on the calendar. Resident Management will oversee this activity to manage any logistical issues, assign vehicles, and prevent double booking.
- The M. Tech will be required to keep a running inventory of all supplies and refill daily supplies as needed.
- M. Tech may be responsible for supervising resident chore and project times. This includes preparation, safety, clean up, and record keeping.
- Work directly with Resident Management to accomplish scheduling and assignments. Task completion should be planned no less than one week in advance unless it is a high priority assignment that is deemed detrimental to the operation of the facility.
- Assist other staff members in the completion of other company needs when available.
- Provide information training support for all direct reports and assigned residents.
- Train, schedule, and supervise subordinate staff. Ensures that the responsibility and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
- Serves as the communication point for all requests for maintenance, transportation, supplies and logistics for clients and programs.
- Solicit services of free or reduced cost wherever possible. This is imperative to the operation of a nonprofit organization.
- Track preferred service providers and update database.
- Maintain community presence by attending relevant functions and events.
- Develop and evaluate new initiatives and innovative methods in the areas related to facilities and other equipment.
- Evaluate the results of the overall operations of all facilities on a regular, systematic basis and report these results.
- Responsible for the overall safety and security procedures for all staff, residents, trainees, and volunteers participating in activities related to the Maintenance Department while the most senior person on duty from this department.
- Manage transportation of equipment and personnel related to the Maintenance Department.
- Ensure management systems (AirTable, Google Calendar, etc.) are up to date and being utilized
- Pursue new contracts to promote more affordable services provided by external contractors or companies.
- Submit estimates and proposals for larger jobs that will exceed specific expectations outlined in the operating budget.
Client/Resident Care Responsibilities
- Spiritually guide company operations so that it actively displays Christ in its environment and operations.
- Ensure residents' recovery conducive environment is maintained while offsite or under direct supervision at all times
- Actively promote environments for residents to openly receive Christ.
- Enforce proper behaviors while performing work-based learning and teaching residents.
- Minister to residents on a continual basis. All interactions with residents should be carried out in as positive a manner as possible. Encourage residents to move in a healthy direction that would be similarly advised by senior leadership.
- Preaching/Teaching: Each staff member should have no less than three lessons planned well enough to teach at short notice as requested. This assignment must be approved by a staff member whose position is in direct care of residents to ensure consistency of ideas presented to residents.
- Assist residents in discovering interests and desires in trade or service industry to accomplish their goals. Help them develop the confidence and technical skills necessary to achieve these goals.
