What are the responsibilities and job description for the Charlottesville, VA Area Director - Part Time position at Christian Medical & Dental Associations?
As the Charlottesville Area Director, you will provide leadership and direction for a growing ministry serving healthcare students and professionals in the Charlottesville area, including the University of Virginia, Piedmont Community College, and Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. This is a part-time ministry role beginning July 1, 2026, focused on cultivating Christ-centered growth, fostering meaningful relationships, and equipping others to live out their faith in healthcare settings. You will play a key role in encouraging spiritual development, building connections across the local healthcare community, and advancing the mission of transforming lives through the Gospel in healthcare. Through discipleship, leadership development, and collaboration, you will help create a thriving and unified ministry that impacts both students and professionals.
What You’ll Do
You will Identify, train, and disciple student leaders, advisors, and graduate mentors, and meet with them regularly for discipleship, feedback, and planning and scheduling of events. Help student leaders identify their replacements and transition the ministry to new leaders each year. Facilitate the pairing of interested students with same gender mentors both in their schools and in the community. Encourage local students to develop in regional and national leadership roles and to attend CMDA conferences and mission trips.
You will engage with leaders of local Christian ministries to identify appropriate opportunities for collaboration in health care related outreach, discipling and education. Reach out to new healthcare professionals in the area, and engage them in support of our student and resident activities. Organize one or more annual dinners for local professionals to come together for fellowship and an inspirational message on relevant topics. You will work to grow a unity of vision and partnership in the Charlottesville area (church leaders, ministry leaders, para-church ministry leaders).
You will be expected to attend the national CMDA Staff Connections Conference each year. As the Area Director, you will be a member of and meet, report to, and pray with the Charlottesville area leadership Council at each meeting. You will work within corporate national CMDA structures and ensure that the Charlottesville area chapter is consistent with the vision, mission, and doctrinal statements of CMDA. This will require regular communication with the CMDA Regional Director and work with them on the development of the annual budget and maintain financial records as required by the CMDA national organization.
Qualifications
- Personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Endorsement in writing of CMDA’s Leadership Statement of Faith, Mission, Vision, and Values
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership in a previous church, faith-based organization, or campus ministry or equivalent
- Experience in discipling others
- Leadership skills, Humility, Flexibility
- Evidence of excellent people (interpersonal) skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Accountability to leadership (CMDA national, regional, and local council)
