What are the responsibilities and job description for the Before Care Teacher position at Christian Life Academy?

Christian Life Academy is currently seeking a before care teacher to join the CLA family!

Hours:

August-May: Monday-Friday - 7:00am-8:00am

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Supervision:
  • Maintain constant visual and auditory supervision of all children in the program, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Implement and enforce program rules and behavior guidelines consistently and fairly.
  • Monitor student attendance and sign-out procedures accurately.
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to any incidents, accidents, or emergencies, documenting as required.

Activity Leadership & Engagement:

  • Plan, organize, and lead a variety of age-appropriate activities, including arts and crafts, games, sports, and imaginative play.
  • Facilitate positive social interactions and encourage cooperative play among children.
  • Provide support and assistance with homework completion as needed.
  • Encourage participation and create a fun and stimulating atmosphere.

Behavior Management:

  • Utilize positive reinforcement and effective behavior management techniques to guide children's behavior.
  • Address conflicts and challenging behaviors calmly and constructively, seeking guidance from the Aftercare Coordinator when necessary.

Communication:

  • Communicate professionally and courteously with parents/guardians during pick-up, providing brief updates on their child's day.
  • Report any concerns regarding a child's behavior, well-being, or family situation to the Aftercare Coordinator.
  • Collaborate effectively with other aftercare staff members.

Program Environment:

  • Assist with setting up and cleaning up activity areas, ensuring a tidy and organized space.
  • Help prepare and distribute snacks, adhering to any dietary restrictions or allergies.
  • Ensure all equipment and materials are used safely and appropriately.

Professionalism:

  • Adhere to all school/organization policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information.
  • Participate in required training sessions and staff meetings.

Experience/Education: Must be at least 16 years old.

All CLA personnel are required to:

  • Personally confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior
  • Active in a local Bible believing church
  • All employees must have a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This commitment should be easily observed through their lifestyle, both in and out of school, that is consistent with biblical teaching.

All employees must exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and Christian living both at school and in private life. Christian Life Academy requires all employees to exhibit the highest standards in their personal, spiritual, moral, and legal lives.
  • Comply with State of Florida and Federal law
  • Before employment can begin, it is Federal Law that employees provide the school with documents for verifying both identity and employment eligibility. In addition, all employees must adhere to the State of Florida mandated child abuse reporting law outlined in F.S. 39.203 an agree to report misconduct of any faculty, administration, or staff member which affects the health, safety or welfare of a student.
  • Undergo background screening:
  • In compliance with Florida Department of Education requirements, all full and part time staff must undergo background screening.
  • Hold a baccalaureate degree or higher

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 per week

Work Location: In person
