JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The primary objective of the Elementary Office Assistant position is to assist the Elementary Receptionist, Elementary Headmaster, students, parents and teachers in creating an efficient environment. This position must agree with and support the Staff Member’s Covenant and agree with/help fulfill CHA’s Mission Statement.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities and Tasks)
Assist with:
- Answering phones/doorbell
- Dress code notices and keep records of infractions
- Recording lunch count and attendance from classrooms in FACTS SIS as needed
- Mail distribution to teacher’s boxes
- Mail pick up from secondary office and deliver mail to main and secondary office
- Student needs
- Covering classes/needs when necessary
- Projects as assigned by the Elementary Headmaster and/or Elementary Headmaster’s Administrative Assistant
- Any other reasonable needs that arise unexpectedly
General:
- Attend staff meetings, committee meetings and all other meetings that are required
- Attend Professional Development training and devotions throughout the year

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional school environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filing cabinets and fax machines. The environment also uses step stools for climbing while pulling or reshelving books.
Performance Standards
Completing tasks well and in a timely manner (before or at due date), while representing Christian Heritage Academy in a way that is glorifying to Christ.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 10 month position, payable on a 12-month pay schedule. Regular work hours will be Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extra days may be required during summer on an hourly basis and approved by the Elementary Headmaster.
Travel
Local travel for supplies is expected for this position.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The school is currently a multi-level facility, which requires this position to navigate flights of stairs regularly to meet responsibilities as it relates to the school.
Talking - must be able to express ideas and speak clearly and orally in person or over the phone to parents, students and/or other employees.
Hearing – ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction and to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Close visual acuity required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and reading.
Standing, walking and sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching or climbing for extended periods of time, moving about on foot for lecturing and monitoring students in the classroom, as well as throughout the building.
Regularly sitting at the computer requiring dexterity of hands and fingers.
Occasional lifting of at least 25 pounds.
Environment is primarily indoors in an office or classroom environment.
On occasion, must be able to work longer hours than a typical day for events such as back to school dinner, parent-teacher conferences, meetings/functions in the evening.
Required Education
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience working with children.
