Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Deputy Jailer-Corrections at Christian County Jail, located in Hopkinsville, KY. The Deputy Jailer will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations within the jail, including monitoring inmate activities and ensuring safety and security. Additional responsibilities include conducting searches, supervising inmate movements, managing records, and responding to emergencies. This is a sworn law enforcement position with limited powers of arrest. Individuals in this position can expect to regularly work and interact with county, state, and federal inmates. This is a challenging career with room for personal growth and advancement. No prior law enforcement experience is required.
Qualifications
- Experience in law enforcement or corrections, knowledge of jail operations, and familiarity with legal and ethical standards is a plus but not required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage confrontation
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain records, conduct searches, and manage inmate movements
- Physical fitness and capability to respond to emergencies
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in corrections is beneficial
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently
- Commitment to upholding the safety and security of inmates and staff
- Must have the ability to confront aggressive inmates and take action to protect staff, other inmates and the safety/security of the facility with no hesitation
