SUMMARY: Clinical Support Providers offer therapeutic support for each resident in his/her assigned cottage as a member of the resident's clinical team. The CSP assists in providing crisis support and is an integral part of the cottage and clinical teams. CSPs work as a bridge between the clinical and operational teams to best meet the needs of the residents.

Job-specific Essential Functions Include The Following

  • TEAM FIRST: Makes every effort to maintain a 'team first' spirit and atmosphere within the workplace environment, maintaining appropriate working relationships and promoting collaboration.
  • Works with clinical and operational teams to mediate group or individual conflicts to help youth find solutions. Prevents conflicts by instructing/teaching about rules, consequences, and alternative behaviors during non-conflict times. Aids in de-escalation and provides preventative interventions for clients.
  • Works with clients on REACH program (helps them complete packets, works with them on developing skills/character qualities, and facilitates checkpoints for clients to move to next stage).
  • Communicates effectively with cottage team, both verbally and in writing, regarding treatment progress, planning decisions, problems, etc.
  • Aids in hygiene, independent living skills, etc. to help meet the needs of clients.
  • Attends meetings and shares clinical observations about resident issues (i.e., peer problems, moods, preferences, sleep patterns, family relationships, etc.)
  • Completes appropriate logs, reports and forms including all service provision notes (includes checking alerts consistently to reconcile them), and non-billable case notes within agency deadlines and standards.
  • Ensures behavior scale is completed for psychiatric services by the client's first appointment with Psychiatrist (typically within 2 weeks of intake).
  • Assists operational team with family time (visitation), greets guests, meets with parents for parent education and/or other activities assigned in clients' ITP.
  • Helps evaluate client's emotional and physical needs before, during and after family time; provides interventions to assist with identified needs.
  • Supervises/monitors phone calls, family time/visitation (of approved people) between as needed/assigned.
  • Follows all policies/procedures/protocols regarding critical incidents.
  • Assists with facilitating the spending of clothing vouchers needed for clients.
  • Compiles inventory of clients' belongings upon intake; monitors and tracks ongoing inventory as clients acquire more items; and completes discharge inventory of clients' belongings.
  • Facilitates group sessions, assisting kids to find hope and insight into their present and future dreams/goals.
  • Meets individually with each resident on case load.
  • Meets weekly productivity requirements according to agency standards.
  • Develops and maintains cottage papers (chore list, laundry/prayer day, seating arrangements, shower schedule) as new intakes come; as changes occur; and on a monthly basis.
  • Works on the floor as directed/asked by supervisors in order to fill in staffing holes. Completes duties of a treatment specialist on these days, which equal up to 20 days per year.
  • Earns and maintains Safe Crisis Management certification and actively engages with clients using SCM skills when needed.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate before groups of varying sizes of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, required. Must be able to communicate well with colleagues, verbally and in writing to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to apply common sense. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office Suite and the internet, as well as CCHO clinical documentation software (electronic health record).
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment, as well as cope and tolerate high levels of stress.

Education, Experience, Certifications/Licenses

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field strongly preferred, plus 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ohio Licensed Social Worker preferred. May consider those actively seeking social work degree/Ohio LSW.
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License and a driving record that allows that individual to be insurable on agency policy, as job includes occasional travel.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, and hear, including a requirement to stand or walk for extended periods of time, sometimes through uneven terrain.
  • Often required to use hands/fingers, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to be outdoors in various weather conditions for extended amounts of time.
  • Must be able to drive a vehicle legally and safely in the state of Ohio.
  • Must maintain compliance/certification with CCHO's requirements for using physical restraints (SCM: Safe Crisis Management), including sufficient strength and completion of extensive training. Physical ability to respond to crisis, including, but not limited to running and performing physical restraints.

CONTINUOUS QUALITY IMPROVEMENT (CQI): All Agency staff are expected to focus on Quality improvement as a part of their job responsibilities, in an effort to make the Agency a safe and healing environment for clients and staff. This expectation includes, but is not limited to teamwork, improving service delivery, fulfilling department goals, and other job-specific tasks that encourage excellence.

Agency Leaders have the added expectation of creating and fostering an environment in which Quality Improvement is both encouraged and expected, and to accordingly hold staff accountable.

This position is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all of the following: background checks (fingerprints required), drug test, reference checks, Department of Justice National sex offender search, Ohio (and other states of residence) Alleged Perpetrator Search, as well as other checks as required by our licensing agency.

Candidates for most jobs must be 21 or older to apply. References, background checks, and drug screenings will be completed on all potential candidates. Direct care positions will require a pre-employment physical, as required by our licensing agency. Must be able to commute reliably for all on-site positions.
