DIRECTOR OF YOUTH
25 hours per week
Summary
The Director of Youth will be responsible for the middle school and high school youth program. Will establish vision, culture and policies for Emmaus Youth, building age specific classrooms for 6th - 12th grade. The will equip and empower volunteer teams to carry out the vision of Emmaus Youth; including weekly Youth Group, community connection and building, and seasonal events. Will work alongside Emmaus Pastors and/or Deacons to equip parents to fulfill the calling as the primary disciplers of the children.
A director has primary responsibility for one or more areas of ministry. The Director will oversee the staff, the programs, the volunteers and the budget for these ministries. Directors are more than administrators in that and are expected to envision how the ministry will develop and evolve such that it grows in kingdom impact. A director’s job description is not fully prescriptive; the director should be in close communication with one's supervisor (typically a pastor) about the health and direction of the ministry. Directors are required at all Sunday gatherings, Easter, Christmas Eve and Good Friday gatherings unless approved in advance.

- Work with Lead Pastor, under the direction of the Formation & Development Pastor to establish vision for Emmaus Youth
- Establish age appropriate ministries for students ages 6th - 12th grade. This includes moving towards both Junior High & High School ministries.
- Prepare lesson(s) for weekly Youth Group gatherings.
- Recruit, equip and empower volunteers to run Youth Group gatherings and to disciple the Youth.
- Oversee Youth Group gatherings including, but not limited to: games, message, worship, small groups, etc.
- Work with the Lead Pastor, under the direction of the Formation & Development Pastor, to equip parents to disciple the children. This may include participating in a parenting cohort, identifying parental resources, and/or facilitating opportunities for our parents to build relationships within the community.
- Equip and empower volunteers to plan and execute seasonal Youth camps & events and weekly gatherings.
- Plan and execute Emmaus Youth participation in Easter and Christmas Eve Gatherings.
- Provide regular communication with Youth parents. This includes, but not limited to; parents meetings twice a year (at minimum), weekly communication on events and weekly gatherings, etc.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Provide a point of connection for Emmaus Youth.
- Attend weekly Sunday services. Ensuring your presence between gatherings. Use this time to connect with parents and youth; to provide care, make connections and recruit new students and volunteers.
- Help with setup and tear down of the main gathering space.
- Establishing and maintaining a spirit filled environment in the community of faith
- Equipping the community with Biblical gospel truth applied in the context of contemporary culture
- Providing opportunities for the community to practice of life of faith
- Primary source of information related to the “family” with the “family”
- Establishing and maintaining a culture of trust and honor among the staff
- Guiding and developing staff (as assigned)
- Keeping a watchful eye on spending, the budget and other physical resources
- Full authority over all decisions related to the youth program
- Full authority over the budget and spending in the youth program within the bounds defined by the annual budget
- Key decisions requiring a departure from the budget or changes/additions to stated values or policies should be discussed with the supervisor
- Reports directly to the Pastor of Community and Spiritual Formation.
