- Understand and implement Foundations’ philosophy by following established policies.
- Meet regularly with teaching partner to plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and spiritual needs of the children in the program.
- Create schedules and routines to ensure children have predictable structure.
- Submit lesson plans two weeks in advance to the Head of School (HoS) for review.
- Request materials needed for projects and communicate to the HoS or designee when supplies are becoming depleted. Allow at least two weeks notification to receive supplies.
- Observe children to evaluate and record their progress.
- Observe and document signs of developmental and emotional problems in each child and convene with HoS, parents, or other professionals if necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date records to document the progress and growth of each student.
- Develop a positive relationship with each child and each child’s family to promote optimal growth and development.
- Based on accurate record keeping, conduct individual parent-teacher conferences twice a year to give updates on the child’s progress.
- Assist/teach personal hygiene, specifically toileting, hand-washing, and tooth-brushing.
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner by being punctual, wearing appropriate attire, and using positive, edifying language.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Help maintain facility in a clean, safe, and satisfactory condition.
- Maintain a positive relationship with other programs sharing the same facility.
- Participate in daily worship, finding ways to effectively utilize the full 30-minute timeframe.
- Work with after care staff to provide continuity and to maximize benefits for the children and further their spiritual development.
- Meet all regulations and requirements as laid out in the operations and staff manuals.
- Be available for periodic evening events such as open house, end-of-year graduation ceremony, core parent involvement sessions, and holiday performances.
- Fulfill other duties as requested by the HoS.
- Participate in administrative planning meetings.
- Participate in periodic committee and board meetings.
- Assist the HOS with OSR-related requirements and issues.
- Participate in periodic group presentations, conferences, and media events (including social media) in the promotion of Foundations.
- Coordinate supply and book purchases.
- Be the responsible administrator if HOS is off premises.
- Assist teachers with lesson plans and classroom needs as needed.
- Be the point person for special event planning.
- Secure and implement spiritual curriculum for day and ASC programs, ensuring they coincide with the educational curriculum.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Have a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development, at minimum.
- Have specialized training in the early childhood field.
- Submit to a background check.
- Have a heart for the urban community and participate in ongoing training in matters related to serving in an urban setting.
- Have a love for the Lord Jesus Christ.
- Be committed to Christian pre-school education for children and their families.
