What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resident Care Aide position at Christian Care?
General Description:
The Resident Care Aide (RCA) is responsible for providing direct care to the residents in a dignified manner. The RCA is required to follow the care plan to encourage independence, provide safety, and assist the resident in activities of daily living (ADLS) that they can no longer do for themselves. They report to the Director of Clinical Care.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Delivers resident care following the plan of care
2. Maintains a clean, clutter free, and safe environment in the resident rooms, work units, and all other areas of the facility
3. Builds and maintains relationships with residents, families, co-workers, and other visitors
4. Reports any unusual occurrence, observation, or change in a patient’s conditions to the DOCC or ADOCC
5. Understands and practices HIPA: providing privacy, confidentiality of residents, and their information
6. Knowledge of emergency preparedness plans
7. Understands standard of care and infection control practices
8. Maintains a record of good attendance
9. Maintains a neat, clean, and professional appearance in accordance with the Handbook
10. Resolves problems through appropriate chain of command
11. Uses proper body mechanics in handling and transferring residents
12. Upholds the mission statement, values, and goals of Christian Care
13. Attends or completes in service classes or programs when posted
14. Promotes a team centered environment and good customer service
Required Education and Experience Physical Demands
- Entry level position
- CNA certification considered a plus
- CPR certification considered a plus
- Experience working with Alzheimer’s or Dementia a plus
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Some bending and stooping
- Position includes standing and sitting for a period of time
