Vice President of Programs and Services
CAM is seeking a highly motivated individual to take on the role of Vice President of Programs and Services. This is a newly created executive-level position, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. This leader will serve as the CEO’s right hand, ensuring that CAM’s programs operate with excellence, compassion, and alignment to our mission. The VP will oversee all CAM programs and direct services, managing and developing staff and volunteers, ensuring operational consistency across campuses, strengthening community partnerships, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and spiritual integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Provide strategic oversight and day-to-day leadership for all program and service areas
--Client Services (food and clothing pantries, utility assistance, referral information)
--ID Recovery
--CAM Shower program
--CAMpassion Care (mental health psychiatric program for people experiencing homelessness),
--Homeless Response and Street Outreach
--Site operations at both campuses
- Supervise program directors and staff, conducting regular check-ins, performance reviews, and professional development plans.
- Lead volunteer and staff training in partnership with operations leadership to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with CAM’s mission.
- Maintain clear communication and coordination across departments through regular team meetings and collaborative planning.
- This is a Macro and a Micro job with the person in charge keeping the big picture operations and services going while dealing with day to day and individual client needs through supervision and help to staff leading these efforts.
Operational Excellence & Program Management
- Ensure that programs are implemented efficiently and compassionately, meeting both client needs and organizational goals.
- Oversee systems for tracking program performance, reporting outcomes, and maintaining compliance with grants and budgetary guidelines.
- Support staff in managing budgets, timelines, and operational requirements, while mentoring them toward leadership growth and accountability.
- Coordinate and occasionally assist with daily operations when needed, especially during high-demand periods or emergencies.
- Help to develop program processes and implementation during a period of great growth at CAM.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Represent CAM in key community collaborations and stakeholder meetings (e.g., United Way, Food Bank, City and County initiatives, mental health, and housing coalitions).
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, faith entities, and service organizations to strengthen CAM’s network of care.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for CAM’s mission within the nonprofit, business, and faith communities.
Faith-Based Leadership & Culture
- Model and promote Christian values in all areas of leadership, creating an environment of compassion, respect, and accountability.
- Mentor staff to serve with both professional excellence and spiritual integrity.
- Support CAM’s culture of prayer, reflection, and shared purpose as we serve those in crisis with Christ’s love.
Qualifications
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree required or an equivalent level of leadership experience.
- Minimum 7–10 years of progressively responsible management experience in nonprofit or social service organizations. Experience with poverty, homeless prevention, homelessness, and mental health. A strong understanding of the systems that impact these issues.
- Proven success leading diverse teams and managing multi-site service operations.
- Strong understanding of community-based services for individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty, and crisis support.
- Established relationships and familiarity with San Antonio’s nonprofit and faith-based community networks (United Way, Close to Home, San Antonio Food Bank, Haven for Hope, COSA etc..).
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and computer skills, including data management, budgeting, and grant reporting. Verifiable experience performing this work.
- Flexible schedule, with availability for occasional weekends, evenings, or emergency response events.
- Demonstrated track record of initiative, reliability, and collaborative leadership.
Compensation and Benefits

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Friday 8:00 am-12:00 pm with occasional evenings and weekends
