Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Bell Choir Director to lead our youth ensemble in creating beautiful music and fostering a love for bell ringing. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and has a strong background in music education. The Youth Bell Choir Director will be responsible for developing the choir's repertoire, conducting rehearsals, and mentoring young musicians in their musical journey.
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare engaging rehearsals that promote musical growth and teamwork among choir members.
- Conduct 1-hour rehearsals on 2nd & 4th Sundays, immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service.
- Select appropriate music pieces that cater to the skill levels of the choir members while challenging them to improve.
- Provide individual and group instruction to enhance bell ringing techniques and musicality.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment where all participants feel valued and encouraged.
- Organize performances 2-3 times per season (fall and winter), including scheduling, logistics, and communication with parents and guardians.
- Collaborate with other music staff to integrate the bell choir into larger musical events or services.
Skills
- While a degree in music is not required for this position, any candidate must have a music background, including knowledge of handbells and proper techniques to be able to teach youth how to ring bells.
- Strong teaching skills with the ability to engage youth in learning music.
- Effective leadership abilities to inspire and motivate young musicians.
- Excellent communication skills to convey musical concepts clearly and foster open dialogue with students and parents.
