Middle School: Social Studies/Religion Teacher

Position Title: Middle School Social Studies and Religion Teacher (Grades 6–8)

Position Summary

Christ the Teacher Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, dedicated, and enthusiastic educator to serve as a 7th Grade Homeroom Teacher, 6th and 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher, and 8th Grade Religion Teacher. The successful candidate will support the mission of Catholic Education by fostering academic excellence, spiritual growth, and student development within a Christ-centered learning environment.

As a member of our faculty, the teacher will actively promote the teachings of the Catholic Church, integrate faith into daily instruction, and support the Mercy charism and mission of Christ the Teacher Catholic School.

Essential Responsibilities

Instructional Responsibilities

• Teach Social Studies to students in Grades 6 and 8.
• Teach Religion to students in Grade 8.
• Serve as the homeroom teacher for Grade 7.
• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons aligned with diocesan and school curriculum.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and assessments to promote student learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student achievement and progress.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student performance and classroom activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives.

Faith Formation Responsibilities

• Integrate Catholic teachings and values throughout the curriculum.
• Lead students in daily prayer and faith experiences.
• Model Christian values and actively support the Catholic identity of the school.

Homeroom Responsibilities

• Monitor student attendance, behavior, and academic progress.
• Support student social-emotional development and foster a positive classroom culture.
• Assist with school activities, events, and supervision duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church.
• Bachelor's degree in Education, preferred.
• Eligible for or currently holding teacher certification.
• Commitment to Catholic Education.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administration, students, and parents.
• Successful completion of all diocesan background checks and Safe Environment requirements.

Preferred

• Teaching experience at the middle school level.
• Experience integrating technology into instruction.
• Familiarity with standards-based grading and assessment practices.
