Overview
We are seeking a detail oriented, part-time Bookkeeper for our church. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts payable and receivables and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Prior bookkeeping experience required, and experience with accounting and payroll software and systems such as Paychex and Venco helpful.
Duties
The Church Bookkeeper is responsible for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and cost accounting using journal entries across many account codes. In consultation with the Treasurer, the bookkeeper is also responsible for the development and implementation of financial procedures as needed. Accurate recording of contributions and expenses is essential, along with the maintenance of the various databases used to document all financial transactions. The position has somewhat flexible hours, but you generally must work on-site at the Church two days per week as interfacing with the Church financial database is best performed on-site.
Skills Required for the Position
1. Bookkeeping background (experience with church bookkeeping a plus).
2. Excellent listening, problem-solving, writing and oral communication skills and ability to cooperate and work well with CtK Treasurer, church staff and congregation members.
3. Ability to work independently, take initiative and maintain confidentiality of financial information.
4. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to pull reports from the church database (currently using Shepherd’s Staff).
5. Ability to learn new computer skills as needed, including accounting software used by the church.
Pay: $900.00 - $1,000.00 per month
