Providing nurturing care, early education, and Christian learning for children ages 4 weeks–12 years.
Christ Lutheran Church Daycare is a warm, faith-centered childcare program dedicated to high-quality care, early learning, and Christian values. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and compassionate Preschool/School Kid Manager to join our leadership team. This role includes both classroom teaching responsibilities and essential administrative duties that support the daily operation of the center.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills, a passion for early childhood education, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
Reports To: Daycare Director
Hours: Full-time Teacher, with approximately 5-10 administrative hours per week
You must be able to close at least 3 nights a week and/or open. Schedule will depend on what the director needs.
Position Responsibilities
I. Preschool Teacher Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans.
- Provide daily care, supervision, and nurturing support for toddlers.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment.
- Promote children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding progress, milestones, and daily activities through the ProCare App and face-to-face interactions.
Preschool Staff Support
- Monitor preschool and school age classrooms to ensure consistent compliance with state ratios and licensing regulations.
- Notify teachers when licensing guidelines are not being followed and report concerns to the Director for appropriate follow-up or disciplinary action.
- Mentor and support preschool and school age teachers by offering guidance, suggestions, and constructive feedback.
- Assist with onboarding and training new preschool or school age staff, ensuring they understand center policies, procedures, and curriculum expectations.
- Conduct classroom walkthroughs to ensure lesson plans are being implemented effectively.
- Perform weekly checks to ensure teachers have accurately completed all required ProCare entries, including logs and photos.
Director Support
- Assist the Director in implementing center-wide goals and initiatives.
- Help ensure ongoing compliance with all licensing standards and regulations.
- Perform Closing procedures and ensure all end-of-day responsibilities are completed.
- Supervise preschool classrooms and daily routines.
- Support preschool teachers in upholding center policies and procedures.
- Communicate with parents, address concerns, and assist in managing emergencies as needed.
Parent Relations
- Greet families and visitors warmly to create a positive first impression of the center.
- Provide professional, timely, and respectful communication when responding to parent questions or concerns.
- Listen to parent feedback, document concerns, and work collaboratively with the Director to resolve issues.
- Maintain effective communication regarding children’s development, behaviors, and individual needs.
II. Office Administration and Support
Approximately 5-10 hours per week. The Following duties are your responsibility plus anything else the director needs done or help with.
Children’s Medical Records
- Maintain accurate, confidential medical records for all enrolled preschool and school age children in compliance with all regulations.
- Collect and verify required documentation (immunizations, allergies, health histories, emergency contacts).
- Organize and securely file records while ensuring accessibility for authorized staff.
- Track expiration dates and request updated information from families as needed.
- Notify preschool and school age staff of relevant medical conditions or allergies.
Newsletter, Menu Planning, and Celebrations
- Collaborate with the infant and toddler manager to prepare a monthly parent newsletter submitted to the Director one week prior to each new month.
- Update monthly celebration boards for children and staff.
- Develop weekly menus that meet nutritional guidelines and consider allergies/dietary needs; communicate menus to families through newsletters and online platforms.
- Plan and organize special events, including holiday celebrations, dress-up days, and graduation ceremonies.
- Coordinate event logistics, including supplies, refreshments, and volunteer needs.
Curriculum, Lesson Plans, and Supplies
- Develop and review weekly lesson plans for preschool classrooms, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals.
- Collaborate with teachers to implement high-quality, engaging, and budget-conscious classroom activities.
- Manage classroom supply inventory, budget adherence, and procurement of materials.
- Research creative and cost-effective materials to enhance classroom learning.
Staff Training and Development
- Assist in identifying staff training needs and creating training materials.
- Lead or co-lead staff training sessions on topics such as curriculum, classroom management, child development, safety, and policy compliance.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
- Assist the Director with tracking staff certifications and required training hours.
Qualifications
Christ Lutheran Church Daycare is willing to train the right candidate; however, the preferred candidate will possess:
- Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA or at least 5 years in childcare
- Experience with administrative duties and office management.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and best practices.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and childcare software (e.g., Procare, Brightwheel).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Genuine passion for working with children, families, and staff.
- Familiarity with state childcare licensing regulations.
- Experience creating or delivering staff training (preferred).
