Christ Episcopal School (CES), a small, welcoming, and diverse preschool–grade 8 community in Rockville, MD, seeks a dynamic Middle School Science Teacher for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year. This is a 75% position, ideal for an educator looking for meaningful classroom impact with work-life balance.
The ideal candidate loves engaging young adolescents, fostering curiosity, and teaching science through inquiry and hands-on learning. You will join a collaborative faculty committed to knowing students well and challenging them academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities
- Teach three sections of middle school science, with courses including Earth, Life, and/or Physical Science
- Plan engaging lessons using Savvas curriculum and inquiry-based approaches
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs
- Assess student learning, maintain records, and communicate progress clearly
- Create a warm, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
- Collaborate closely with colleagues as part of an integrated middle school program
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science or related field (Master’s preferred)
- At least 2 years of middle school teaching experience
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Experience with hands-on labs, technology integration, and differentiated instruction
- Enthusiasm for teamwork and community life
- Interest in STEAM education (and gardening/horticulture) is a plus
