Job Title: Church Bookkeeper
Employment: Part-time, Hybrid or Fully In person, 12 hours/week
Compensation: Hourly Range - $19-$23/Hour (Commensurate with experience & education)
POSITION OBJECTIVE
To properly account for and steward the financial resources and obligations of Christ Community.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
2. Organized, independent, collaborative, and resourceful.
3. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software and a strong aptitude to learn new computer programs.
4. High degree of discretion dealing with confidential & sensitive information.
5. Comfortable working in a church environment.
6. A commitment to good interpersonal relationships, teamwork and support of church ministries.
7. Submit to a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience working in a church environment or NPO.
2. Strong, active faith and active membership in a Christan congregation.
3. Bookkeeping/office/administrative experience.
4. A love/appreciation and understanding of the purpose and mission of Christ Community.
5. Experience with church financial management software (currently Church Windows).
RESPONSIBLE TO
Pastor
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Account for, record, and properly deposit all contributions, tuition, and other income in a timely manner.
2. Account for, record, and submit proper payment for all invoices, reimbursements, etc. in a timely manner.
3. Oversee the administration of all automatic giving/tuition payments.
4. Monitor and reconcile all bank and investment accounts.
5. Help enforce proper security and accounting controls as requested by the church Finance Team & pastor.
6. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to staff, council, and other key leaders as requested.
7. Assists with annual budget preparation.
8. Manage bi-monthly payroll processing
9. Coordinates the vacation schedule; maintains all vacation/leave hour totals.
10. Attend Finance Team monthly zoom meeting as often as possible.
11. Update and maintain individual giving information.
12. Coordinates a periodic evaluation of the insurance needs of the church.
13. Perform other necessary and related work as may be assigned.
