Communications Design and Media Specialist

Role Description The Communications Design and Media Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Rochester, MN. This role is responsible for planning, producing, and managing church-wide communications across digital, print, and social media channels. Day-to-day tasks include drafting and editing written content, designing visual assets, coordinating announcements and press releases, and ensuring consistent messaging that reflects the church’s mission and values. The specialist will collaborate with pastors, ministry leaders, and administrative staff to support events, campaigns, and ongoing ministries through strategic communications. This position also involves maintaining communication calendars, updating the website and email newsletters, and monitoring engagement to continually refine communication strategies.
Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information clearly and appropriately to diverse audiences.
• Experience with press releases and media outreach, including drafting, editing, and coordinating distribution.
• Background in strategic communications and internal communications, with the ability to develop and manage communication plans and campaigns.
• Excellent writing skills for digital, print, and social media content, with attention to tone, clarity, and grammatical accuracy.
• Proficiency in design and media tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite or similar), and familiarity with website content management systems and social media platforms.
• Strong organizational skills, including project management, time management, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with ministry and staff teams, while also taking initiative and working independently when needed.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Marketing, Graphic Design, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
