Join our vibrant community as a Church Accompanist, playing our Yamaha Baby Grand Piano.
The role of the Accompanist is to lead the congregational singing at Christ Church Westshore by playing the piano in such a way that is inspiring and engaging, which encourages the congregation to participate in singing.
In the paid role of $150.00 per service , you will serve as a vital musical partner, providing accompaniment for weekly services, special events, and adult ensemble rehearsals. Your energetic and positive presence will help create an engaging worship experience that resonates with our congregation and enhances our Sunday morning service. We seek a committed Christian musician with a passion for both the traditional hymnody, as well as contemporary church music.
Responsibilities
- Arrive 15 minutes early to warm up and rehearse with song leader.
- Play the baby grand piano within the Holy Communion service in such a way to encourage congregational singing.
- Prepare the Congregation to worship by playing a prelude
- Play a postlude after the service
- Accompany the Adult Choir for Christmas, Easter, & Kickoff Sunday.
Vacation
: Four Sundays of the accompanist choice during the term. These Vacation Sundays are leave time. Vacation Sundays will be authorized by the Rector a minimum of three weeks before the vacation is taken.
Requirements
- A willingness to learn and grow as an accompanist, increasing the singing of the congregation.
- Strong proficiency in piano playing with the ability to improvise and adapt quickly during the service.
- Willingness to work within the rubrics of the Book of Common Prayer 2019.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clergy, choir members, and other worship team members
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with enthusiasm while maintaining professionalism under pressure
- A passion for inspiring others through music and creating an uplifting worship atmosphere
Extra Services and the Pay Rate for the Extra Sessions:
Holy Thursday - $100
Good Friday - $100
Easter 10:00 A.M. $200
Christmas Eve service – 5:00 PM $200
Pay: $150.00 per day
