Primary Areas of Responsibility
- Develop business plan and maintain day to day budget with oversight of Christ Church Greenwich Vestry Treasurer; work closely with Executive Director of Business and Finance Operations to maintain P/L and manage receivables and payables; maintain self-sustaining business model; effectively manage positive cash flow.
- Work well with the Dogwood Board in an advisory capacity, setting up two meetings per year- Spring and Fall- to update the board and get input.
- Execute buying strategy to create a thoughtful and curated book and gift assortment; manage open-to-buy through B2B websites, trade show attendance, and local sales representatives.
- Maintain American Bookseller Association membership to track authors, events and daily book sales.
- Manage in-store merchandising, pricing, point of sale software, and inventory.
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy in conjunction with the CCG Marcom team to create broad community appeal and engagement through communications, social media, public relations, in-store promotions and events.
- Must be comfortable with social media- maintain or oversee employees maintaining the dedicated Dogwood website, Instagram and Facebook accounts, and the Bookshop.org website fulfillment page.
- Maintain daily operations of store and coffee bar; hire, train and manage part-time employees and volunteers. Detailed operating procedures manual are available.
- Work with Christ Church clergy and program staff to develop inventory supporting Church programming, events and speakers.
- Coordinate closely with CCG speakers’ events, community events, book-signings, holiday sales, garden club events etc. selling relevant books and keeping the store open as attendees arrive and shop.
- Work with Christ Church Greenwich Nursery School director and board to enrich merchandise offering for young parents and children.

- 4 years retail experience; including retail management experience
- 4 years sales and/ or sales management experience
- Love of books
- Experience in the consumer gift market
- Exceptional interpersonal skills: ability to work well with a variety of constituents including clergy, lay leaders, customers, employees, community leaders, volunteers, etc.
- Strong intellect and creative spirit
- Versatile self-starter with ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment
- College degree preferred, but not mandatory
