Choux Bakery is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Pastry Production Assistant to join our team in San Francisco.
We are a French bakery specializing in elegant, handcrafted pastries including choux, canelés, financiers, cakes, and seasonal desserts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on bakery production, takes pride in consistency and cleanliness, and is also comfortable helping with front-of-house support and dishwashing when needed.
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, efficient, organized, and excited to be part of a small team where everyone contributes to the overall flow of the bakery.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and decorate a variety of pastries, cakes, and desserts with attention to detail and artistic flair
- Ensure all baked goods are produced efficiently while maintaining strict food safety and hygiene standards
- Package finished products attractively for display or delivery, ensuring freshness and quality are preserved
- Assist in food production tasks such as measuring ingredients, mixing batters, and maintaining ingredient inventory
- Collaborate with the pastry team to plan menus, execute catering orders, and support special events
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, adhere to food handling regulations, and uphold kitchen safety protocols
Requirements
- Previous experience in a bakery, pastry kitchen, or food production environment required.
- Proven pastry experience with a strong portfolio of cake decorating and dessert presentation skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in food preparation, baking techniques, and culinary arts within a fast-paced environment
- Skilled in food handling procedures, knife skills, and maintaining high standards of food safety
- Experience in food industry settings such as restaurants or catering services is highly desirable
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment efficiently while adhering to health regulations
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude towards teamwork and guest satisfaction
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines
