What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sous Chef/Line Cook position at Chough Restaurant Group?
Hello my name is Simon Chough and I am the chef/owner of Soju a small family owned Korean American restaurant in the Garfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Right now I am looking to fill 2 full time positions in the kitchen. Job openings with us are a rarity because unlike most restaurants our job turn over rate is low and we truly care for our team. The BOH team consists of around 6 people which includes myself and two dishwashers. We are open for dinner service Tuesday-Thursday from 5-9pm and Friday-Saturday 5-10pm. So we start prep at 1pm and are out of the kitchen by 10pm on weekdays and 11pm on Friday and Saturday. If you need flexibility in terms of this schedule because of other responsibilities I am willing to work with you, but since we have such a small team no shows will not be tolerated. There are three stations behind our line the fry station, grill, and sauté. You will be trained on each station and will be expected to work where ever needed. We work as a team to accomplish one goal so you will also be expected to work harmoniously with those around you, helping others when needed as they will help you when in need. In order for this to work communication skills and good morale are paramount. We do not call each other chef in the kitchen but we do treat each other with the respect and dignity that chefs deserve saying please and thank you when applicable. Bad attitudes and talking down to others will never be tolerated. Ideally I am looking for someone with experience but it is not necessarily a requirement if you are someone who is just getting into the industry and learns quickly. What I am looking for is someone who is passionate about the work sees this as a career and not just a job. How I like to handle new hires is to invite you to work a full shift as a paid stage.
