Choose Hope is seeking a compassionate and motivated Adult Alcohol & Drug Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting adults who are navigating Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and co-occurring mental health challenges. We are looking for someone who brings genuine lived experience, a heart for service, and a commitment to helping others build meaningful, long-term recovery.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Peer Support Specialist with an active Kentucky certification
- Consistent participation in recovery-based fellowships (AA, NA, Celebrate Recovery, SMART Recovery, etc.)
- Strong documentation and computer skills with the ability to complete notes accurately and promptly
- Reliable, punctual, and able to manage time effectively
- Capable of working independently while also contributing positively to a team environment
- Demonstrates healthy boundaries, professionalism, and strong ethical standards
- Two years of continuous sobriety preferred
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide peer-based support to adults experiencing SUD and co-occurring mental health needs
- Utilize lived experience to motivate, guide, and encourage clients throughout their recovery process
- Assist clients in accessing treatment options, community resources, and additional recovery supports
- Transport clients to AA meetings and other recovery-related activities as needed
- Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation for all client interactions
- Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and leadership to support client success
- Model effective coping skills, life skills, and recovery-oriented behaviors
- Participate in required meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions
- Foster a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment rooted in respect and hope

Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience working with individuals who have co-occurring mental health disorders
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
Pay based on experience
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
