Choice Digital is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who can take responsibility for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend software systems. You’ll be joining a growing team of passionate Software Engineers who foster a culture of shared ownership, teamwork, and engineering excellence.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help build the infrastructure that powers large-scale consumer disbursements. This includes systems responsible for:
- Payment orchestration across multiple rails (ACH, prepaid cards, digital wallets, and checks)
- Transaction lifecycle management, settlement, and reconciliation
- Fraud detection and risk decisioning
- Ledgering and financial record systems
- High-reliability APIs used by enterprise clients to initiate and track payments
Key Responsibilities
Technical Architecture & Execution
- Design, build, and own various backends components of the Choice Digital platform
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design and implement solutions using micro-service and service-oriented architectures
- Enhance existing DevOps for best practices for continuous integration, testing, deployment, and scaling
- Ensure implementation meets the highest quality and security standards
- Work directly with Product Management and Engineering Management to plan and prioritize work
- Own backend components, and establish and enforce standards for security and quality across the platform
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent field, OR 5 years of experience in software design and development
- Basic knowledge of Google Cloud Platform or AWS and containerization/infrastructure-as-code tools (Docker, Terraform)
- Thorough understanding of Object-Oriented Design and Development
- Experience with software testing methodologies and strategies
- Mastery of Python and an ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Very comfortable with SQL and noSQL databases, such as Postgres and Redis
- Understanding of Git/Source Control best practices
- Ability to adjust priorities to delivery schedules
- Must have a passion for building GREAT software
- Experience in payments, fintech, banking, or financial infrastructure
- familiarity with payment rails such as: ACH, card networks (Visa/Mastercard), mobile wallets, experience integrating with third-party financial services or payment processors
- Experience working with systems that handle sensitive financial or personal data and require strong security practices
- Experience designing and implementing ledgering or financial record systems
- Competitive annual compensation range of $140,000 to $160,000
