What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher - Social Studies - Part-Time - REMOTE position at Choice Charter School?
Confident with a friendly and competent professional demeanor. Duties include assigning homework, managing classroom activities, and compiling reports. This position requires in-depth knowledge of effective online teaching practices that ensure learning is a comfortable and meaningful experience. A teacher must have interpersonal and organizational skills, with a strong command of the English language.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Adheres to the curriculum and lesson plans.
- Modifies and updates curriculum, lesson plans, and assessments as needed within the provided work schedule.
- Follows procedures to achieve lesson goals.
- Teaches, assigns, explains, and grades/assesses assignments/assessments.
- Attend schedule for live classes and set office hours for work with individual students (“time choice classes”) in the Charterverse.
- Take attendance and document daily notes in the Student Information System (SIS, i.e. JMC).
- Oversees the normal classroom rhythms and activities.
- Must be able to engage students online and ensure that resources are up-to-date and current.
- Participate in student modification/accommodations and meetings as identified in MTSS, 504, IEP, and Gifted & Talented plans.
- Attend and participate in professional development opportunities and school meetings.
- Proactively communicate with parents/staff/students information regarding student progress and document in the SIS promptly (i.e. JMC).
- Daily, prepare and share lesson materials and resources for students who were not able to attend the class (i.e. flipped learning), and follow up on an individual basis as needed.
- Compliance with all school regulations and policies.
- Work with individual students to differentiate instruction, challenge them, and improve their academic success and social-emotional learning.

- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the CEO or designee, necessary and appropriate to achieve the program and/or School goals and objectives.
- BA in Education
- Iowa licensure in the Subject Area of Teaching
- Experience working with secondary school students or young adults.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in specific course instructing.
- Must be able to practice and teach diverse individuals.
- A solid understanding of content and standards, project-based learning, and standard-based grading.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in communicating effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have the ability to learn new techniques, respond to research, and create educational opportunities that use technology and reflection to develop 21st-century skills.
- Must be reliable and self-motivated. Perform all other related work delegated or required to accomplish the objectives of the total school program.
- Demonstrated ability to continue professional growth.
- Proficient in virtual communication practices and relevant online technology.
