Description

The Loan Flood Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day tasks that involve all aspects of the bank’s flood operations. Responsibilities include the due diligence and review of all loans secured by property; as well as the review, monitoring, and servicing of properties that are in a special flood hazard area. The Loan Flood Specialist will be looked upon as a Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA) subject matter expert to help ensure operational compliance.

Responsibilities Loan Flood Specialist

  • Focus on compliance with the Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA) and related rules and regulations to help safeguard the Bank
  • Accurately order and review flood determinations/re-certifications to determine if property securing a loan is in a flood zone
  • Accurately pull and review bareland maps for potential structures
  • Properly address flood positive loans prior to closing (i.e. notice, proof of proper insurance coverage, pull/review maps, worksheet completion, approval)
  • Properly address detached structures to confirm possible exemptions
  • Review Private Flood Policies to comply with the Private Flood Insurance Rule
  • Ensure all necessary documentation has been indexed properly
  • Ensure all necessary information has been accurately captured in our tracking system
  • Review various flood related reports to ensure proper tracking and timely actions
  • Track and monitor flood positive properties for policy renewals, proper insurance coverage, and potential force placed flood insurance needs
  • Communicate and coordinate with insurance agents, insurance carriers, and/or vendors to verify information, update status, and meet deadlines/requirements
  • Ensure proper force placement when necessary
  • Properly process map changes into and out of a flood zone
  • Review documentation and various systems in an accurate and timely manner to ensure compliance with flood regulation
  • Maintain knowledge of the flood and escrow requirements pursuant to loan policy and federal regulations
  • Collaborate with business partners, vendors, and/or management to resolve flood discrepancies
  • Work with management and other departments to implement procedures, processes, and controls as changes occur
  • Build and maintain effective and trusted internal relationships to support teamwork and organizational goals
  • Support additional initiatives and strategic projects outside normal scope as needed
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with all information obtained

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 to 6 years of relevant experience with requisite competencies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field and/or 5 years banking experience.
  • General knowledge of The Flood Disaster Protection Act preferred.
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in an environment focused on production and quality.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and meet quality standards with accuracy.
  • Requires use of good judgement to solve problems proactively/timely and make appropriate business decisions consistent with bank policy and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for providing guidance and collaborating with various internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • A strong commitment to ethical behavior, integrity, and professional standards.

The base salary for this role is listed below. This pay range is posted to comply with wage transparency laws. The base salary may vary based on skill, ability, knowledge, experience and geographic location. Full time employees are also eligible for a competitive bonus and benefits package.
