Job Summary
Chocolaterie Stam Ames is seeking a full-time manager. Chocolaterie Stam began in Amsterdam in 1913. Two descendants eventually moved to America and introduced Chocolaterie Stam to America. You’ll meet clients from all over the world as you sell fine European chocolates, hand crafted gelato and barista drinks. We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Manager to lead our team and oversee daily operations across our retail environment. In this role, you will be responsible for driving sales, managing staff, ensuring excellent customer service, and maintaining operational efficiency. Your leadership will inspire team members to achieve their best while fostering a positive and productive workplace. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, a passion for retail or service excellence, and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment. Duties include, but not limited to:
- Scheduling, Managing, and directing employees (usually from 8-10 PT employees)
- Actively work the sales floor interacting with customers and employees to achieve shop sales goals
- Shift coverage as needed (employee sickness, emergencies, special events, etc.)
- Oversee day to day operations
- Manage / monitor special orders
- Manage / monitor inventory
- Manage floor displays and pricing
- Ensure and assist in shop and equipment cleanliness
- Learn to use Square POS retail system and management back page
- Organize, implement, and validate staff training. Training will include, but not be limited to, sales, merchandizing, daily task list, Square POS, and product training.
- Participate in interviewing of potential new employees
- Maintain good employee relations
- Learn and maintain high standards of Chocolaterie Stam
- Coordinate and assist in special events, tours, etc.
- Oversee store specials and Stam educational talks (as needed)
- Take and pass Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division online alcohol sales training
- Promote Stam via social media
- Become ServSafe certified within 6 months of employment
Experience
- Proven management experience in retail sales with supervisory responsibilities
- Demonstrated proficiency in employee orientation, training & development, and team management techniques
- Strong background in inventory management, cash handling, and retail math principles
- Experience with POS systems
- Prior manager or supervisory experience is preferred, but not required
- Excellent organizational skills combined with effective communication skills to lead teams successfully
- Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting
