Chocolat Abeille is seeking an organized, dependable, and proactive Assistant Manager to help oversee the day-to-day operations of our boutique chocolate shop. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys creating structure, keeping a team organized, solving problems, and making sure the many details behind a small business stay on track.
Working closely with the General Manager, the Assistant Manager will coordinate daily store operations, inventory and purchasing needs, order fulfillment, packaging, front-of-house activities, and general store organization. This role will also work closely with our Lead Chocolatier to ensure production needs and store operations remain coordinated.
Responsibilities
- Help oversee day-to-day store operations and ensure established procedures and standards are followed
- Provide direction and support to Front of House staff
- Coordinate daily priorities across retail, production, packaging, and order fulfillment
- Maintain inventory of packaging, retail supplies, beverages, shipping materials, and operational supplies
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate purchasing needs to the General Manager
- Coordinate approved purchasing and receiving of supplies
- Track customer, corporate, custom, and event orders from receipt through completion
- Coordinate packaging, fulfillment, pickup, shipping, and delivery needs
- Maintain organized order records, calendars, and deadlines
- Ensure packaging materials are prepared and available for upcoming orders
- Assist with employee scheduling, coverage, training, and onboarding
- Help maintain accountability for daily staff responsibilities
- Ensure the retail floor, displays, packaging areas, storage areas, and other workspaces remain clean and organized
- Support merchandising and seasonal display changes
- Assist with preparation and execution of afternoon teas, events, seasonal launches, and large orders
- Help coordinate social media content and maintain a consistent posting schedule
- Monitor routine customer communications and assist with customer questions or concerns
- Identify operational issues and communicate needs, risks, or recommended solutions to the General Manager
- Serve as a point of contact for day-to-day operational needs when the General Manager is off-site
- Assist with additional administrative and operational responsibilities as needed in a small-business environment

Schedule
This is a primarily on-site position with hours scheduled according to operational needs. The Assistant Manager will provide regular management coverage during store hours but is not expected to be present for every hour the store is open.
Some Saturdays and additional availability during holidays, events, and high-volume periods will be required.
About the Role
This is more than a traditional retail shift-management position. We are looking for someone who can become the General Manager's operational partner and help create consistency, organization, and accountability throughout the business.
The right person will be comfortable moving between responsibilities throughout the day, whether that means reviewing inventory, coordinating a large customer order, helping prepare for an event, supporting the Front of House team, organizing packaging supplies, or identifying a process that could work better.
We are a small team, so flexibility, communication, initiative, and a willingness to help where needed are essential.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
