Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist II performs diagnostic nuclear radiology imaging and therapeutic treatment on all patient populations with an emphasis on pediatric patients. Prepares, administers, and measures radioactive isotopes in therapeutic, diagnostic, and tracer studies. Coordinates and participates in a variety of technical procedures to include the operation of radiation detection and measuring instrumentation, including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma cameras and PET/CT. Follows applicable policies and procedures in handling supplies, pharmaceuticals, and equipment.

Pay Range

Minimum $55.58 Midpoint $73.63 Maximum $91.70

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

  • Required: Minimum one (1) year of outpatient and/or acute care Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience with six (6) months in a pediatric setting.
  • Preferred: One (1) year of acute care Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience in a pediatric inpatient hospital.

Education

  • Required: Graduate from an accredited education program in Nuclear Medicine
  • Preferred: None

Training

  • Required: N/A

Specialized Skills

  • Required: Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure. Able to be a team player; exhibit compassion for the pediatric patient/parents. Demonstrate competency and observance of sterile technique.

Licensure

  • Required: California State License CA Department of Public Health, Certified Technologist, Nuclear Medicine (RHN); CNMT: NMTCB or ARRT(N); ARRT(R) or ARRT(CT) or NMTCB(CT); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Preferred: Venipuncture Certificate.

Work Environments - Functional Demand
