Choate USA is seeking a Commercial Landscape & Irrigation Estimator to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in securing new work by preparing accurate, competitive bids for commercial landscape and irrigation construction projects.
This is an in-person position where you will work closely with our estimating, operations, and project management teams to analyze project documents, develop detailed cost estimates, and prepare complete bid proposals. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive bid proposals for commercial landscape and irrigation construction projects
- Review plans, specifications, addenda, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements
- Perform quantity takeoffs for landscape, irrigation, drainage, site furnishings, and related scopes of work
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and scope clarifications
- Coordinate with operations and project management teams to develop accurate production budgets
- Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits as required
- Maintain estimating files, bid documentation, and historical cost data
- Assist with project handoff following contract award
Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Experience with PlanSwift or similar takeoff software is preferred
- College degree preferred, but not required
