This role is responsible for the daily management, supervision, coordination and successful completion of the project preconstruction phase to achieve the cost objectives with respect to contracting, scheduling, estimating and bidding. This role will assure the Company estimates are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of the project. This includes assuring there are an adequate number of qualified and financially sound subcontractor proposals received and evaluated through Choate Construction’s prequalification process. The Preconstruction Manager prepares detailed estimates (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction and analyzes cost models during the Design Development and/or bidding period.

Strategic Preconstruction Leadership

What You'll Do
Strategic Preconstruction Leadership
- Provide full lifecycle preconstruction leadership for complex, large‑scale, or multiple concurrent mission-critical projects.
- Develop and guide strategy for estimating, scheduling, budgeting, contracting, and bid package execution.
- Maintain central oversight of preconstruction efforts while supporting teams across all Choate markets.
- Build strong, trusted relationships with hyperscale clients, design teams, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Represent Choate with professionalism in key meetings, interviews, and industry events.
- Contribute to client development efforts by supporting pursuits, presentations, and networking initiatives.
- Support development of cost metrics, market analyses, and pursuit strategies that strengthen competitive positioning.
- Ensure seamless collaboration with Operations, Division Managers, and project teams for smooth handoffs from preconstruction to execution.
- Provide early operational insights to enhance constructability and execution planning.
- Guide and mentor preconstruction staff, driving excellence in performance, communication, and collaboration.
- Delegate effectively, creating structure and clarity that enables the team to perform at its highest level.
- Help refine processes, tools, and standards within a growing Mission Critical division.
- Work closely with leadership to shape systems, relationships, and strategic approaches for the new Mission Critical program.
- Strengthen the division’s industry presence by identifying new opportunities and nurturing key partnerships.
- Six (6) to ten (10) years of construction experience.
- Must be proficient in Bluebeam software for the creation and modification of PDF documents.
- Must be proficient in Timberline Estimating software.
- Must be proficient in Agtek, iSqF.
