Job Summary:
As a Wildland Firefighter (Forestry Technician) at Chloeta assigned to an engine crew you will participate in wildfire prevention, mitigation and suppression primarily with water/foam and sprinkler delivery systems. Your duties will include operating the engines that pump and distribute water or foam, driving the fire engines and communicating to facilitate prevention, mitigation and suppression operations. You may engage in other fire suppression work, including Fireline construction, preparing fire breaks, mopping up, felling small trees and cutting brush using hand or power tools. This type of a firefighter will be focused mainly with property insurance protection. When not on assignment, engine crews usually do physical training and work projects like basic engine maintenance, wildfire staging, homeowner assessments, data collection and prescribed burn assignments.

- Both Career Seasonal (Full Time) and Paid Call (Call When Needed) Wildland Firefighter (Forestry Technician) positions are available.
- This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and eligible for Overtime
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operating the engines that pump and distribute water or foam, driving the fire engines and communicating to facilitate suppression operations.
- Engage in other fire suppression work, including Fireline construction, preparing fire breaks, mopping up, felling small trees, putting in sprinkler kits and cutting brush using hand or power tools.
- When not fighting fire, engine crews usually do physical training and work projects like basic engine maintenance, wildfire staging, homeowner assessments, prescribed burn assignments.
- Responds to incidents with their crew in a timely, safe and skilled manner.
- Follows established Company procedures when responding to incidents.
- Correctly and promptly uses all relevant apparatus, tools, and equipment.
- Maintains a positive attitude and strives to meet the client’s needs.
- Safely operates Company vehicles, and equipment as directed.
- Assists in the maintenance of fire apparatus, tools, and equipment keeping such apparatus, tools, and equipment in good operating and safe condition by competently and efficiently performing maintenance and testing tasks.
- Performs routine non-firefighting work tasks willingly and adequately such as working on Company records, timecards and other related paperwork.
- Functions satisfactorily as a team member of a fire company at any emergency or non-emergency scene, and willingly accepts their share of the work required.
- Remains skilled in and properly applies modern fire suppression tactics, methods, and procedures.
- Projects a positive image to the client as a fire service professional.
- Supports the Company mission and vision and works effectively in following policies and procedures
- Collecting data on threatened policies and entering into databases with a high level of data integrity while triaging and mitigation wildfire risks on policies.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Required: Current/valid State issued Driver’s License (DL) with acceptable driving record
- Preferred: DOT Medical Examiner’s Certification (will be authorized by employer for qualified individuals)
- Represent Chloeta professionally at times
- Operate effectively in team settings in high stress environments
- Maintain a high level of physical fitness
- Maintain a constant of readiness for response nationwide
Education and Experience:
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current FFT2 certification with proof of training
- Or completion of training modules: S-110, S-130, S-190, L-180, IS-100, IS-700 and IS-800 prior to employment
- Or current NFPA 1001 certification
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to pass a WCT (Work Capacity Test/Pack Test) at Arduous Level (Complete a 3 mile walk wearing a 45 pound pack in less than 45 minutes)
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at times.
Salary: $18.06-$19.69 per hour

Pre-employment Requirements:
This position may be contingent upon passing a security clearance, background check, drug screen, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, or credit check after acceptance of an offer and prior to beginning work, due to the nature of the services Chloeta provides.
Drug and Alcohol Testing:
To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing during or at the beginning of employment.

Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.
Emergency Response:
Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
