Service Coordinator with Chisom Housing Group

The Resident Services Coordinator will assess and through partnerships aim to address the social services needs of low-income household residents located in Leavenworth and Wyandotte Counties. Chisom Housing Group provides housing for over 1,200 households in 9 states, including 11 properties that exclusively provide housing for low-income seniors and those with disabilities. This position will focus on households in the state of Kansas.

Working with Chisom's Director of Resident Services and on-site management staff, the Coordinator will identify applicable local organizations, programs, and available benefits, communicate with those organizations, and connect residents with the necessary information regarding those programs or benefits. The Coordinator will respond to resident requests made through on-site office hours as well as a services hotline and provide information and assistance. Where feasible, the Coordinator will endeavor to bring programs and presentations to the properties as appropriate. The Coordinator will develop data about the residents concerning their areas of needs and personal goals and work to respond to those needs. Examples of the Coordinator’s work include addressing food insecurity, workforce development opportunities, parenting and youth support, and addressing senior-specific needs, among other resident goals.

The Coordinator will work in alignment with Chisom’s mission as well as the goals of the contracting property owners in Kansas. This position will base their work out of two low-income housing communities near Kansas City, while also working with Chisom’s portfolio of Service Coordinators on organization wide initiatives.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED Certificate.
  • In process or completed Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is preferred but not required. A degree in social work, public policy, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Interest and/or background in community service, affordable housing, policy development and/or social services programming preferred.
  • Driver’s license and willingness and ability to travel domestically required. (Less than 20% of position).
  • Organized and independent worker with strong communication skills.
  • Computer literacy and comfort with basic programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Social Media experience and/or willingness to learn and develop.
  • Public speaking and/or presentation skills with an interest in further development.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, low to moderate-income families, people with mental health, substance abuse, disabilities, legal issues, and older adults.
  • The pay scale will be commensurate with experience and level of education.

Physical Demands: * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be willing to travel from various sites
  • Responsible to set up and clean up facilities utilized for events with occasional lifting, bending, and pushing

Job Type: Part-Time to Full-Time (Dependent on applicant)

Salary: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour – based on education and experience.

Work Location: Two locations (Leavenworth, KS and Kansas City, KS) with potential for possible travel to affiliated Chisom communities in Kansas and nationally.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.75 - $24.00 per hour
