Role Overview
As an Electrical Controls Engineer, you will play a vital role in taking automated applications from concept to reality. You will design the electrical layout and control logic for machinery and complex robotic cells while programming the logic that brings them to life. This role requires a balance of strong technical capability, analytical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.
Core Responsibilities
Electrical Design
- Create detailed electrical designs using kickoff forms, customer requests, and internal standards.
- Select appropriate electrical devices to perform designated automation tasks.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical engineers, fellow engineers, and key suppliers for collaborative input.
- Maintain system design integrity through standard components and historical design continuity.
- Build accurate and thorough electrical Bills of Materials (BOM).
Programming & System Logic
- Develop PLC, HMI, robot, and advanced device programs following kickoff specifications and work instructions.
- Complete testing check sheets to ensure total system and program integrity.
- Consult with customers to ensure equipment functions according to client preference.
- Document setup details and create new work instructions when introducing new products.
Assembly Support & Quality Control
- Provide real-time guidance to production floor to ensure proper electrical machinery assembly.
- Evaluate completed electrical assembly and approve or request rework as necessary.
Procurement Support
- Request and evaluate quotes from external suppliers for essential electrical components.
- Provide technical assistance to the purchasing department as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or technical field.
- Excellent verbal and written skills to clearly convey ideas to customers, suppliers, and coworkers.
- Highly detailed, structured, with a strong desire to learn new technologies continuously.
