Chipton-Ross is seeking 25 Aircraft Mechanics for a contract opportunity in San Antonio, TX.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

4 years of experience Depot Level/Heavy General maintenance 4 years of experience working various aircraft exterior and interior systems including hydraulic, flight control, monuments, landing gears, fuel systems, and engines 4 years of experience working various aircraft exterior and interior systems 4 years of experience in working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures.

Experience accessing aircraft data via computer Able to work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays. Mission requirements and/or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime Regular and predictable attendance is a requirement of this request.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform efforts associated with flight controls installation, removal and rigging. Landing gear and servicing of aircraft.

Perform essential component change outs for example servo pumps, filters and engine components.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform structural modification/repair.

Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects Use Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications to ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and on the job performance Use all equipment in accordance with established safety and operating procedures.

Assist other team members (Avionics, Structures, Electrics) in order to ensure cost/schedule targets are met.

Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in assembly processes.

Use precision measuring instruments, gauges, tools, etc., necessary to check dimensions and conformance to quality requirements.

This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

Experience performing aircraft engine runs, and engine borescope inspections.

Operate an aircraft tug/tow vehicle, forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment Experience with REDARS and/or Gold-ESP

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate must be able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.

Exposure to noise, working on elevated platforms Use personal protective gear for face, eyes, ears, hand, and arms as required.

Pass visual acuity and color perception tests Read, write, and comprehend the English language Handle, use, and dispose of hazardous material Obtain & maintain training certifications as required to support assignment responsibilities Occasional (1 to 3 hrs) finger manipulation On occasion, a 2-person lift may be necessary for weights greater than 50 lbs Frequent reaching overhead (3 to 6 hrs) Frequent walking on flat surfaces Frequent standing flat or uneven surfaces Frequent balancing on a ladder, steps, or uneven surfaces Occasional climbing on 3-12 ft ladders or stands Rotation of head/neck, sitting, crawling, squatting, bend/stoop, lying down, and operate foot controls for an extended period of time Occasional contact with metals Frequent exposure to noise

REQUIRED EDUCATION

High school diploma or GED and typically 1 or more years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORK HOURS

FULL TIME/VARIABLE SHIFT; All submitted candidates should be available to work variable shifts based on business need, 1st 2nd and 3rd shift.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and troubleshooting of aircraft airframes, engines, avionics, and electrical systems in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and industry standards.
• Perform repairs, replacements, and overhauls using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and ohmmeters.
• Utilize schematics, CAD drawings (including AutoCAD), and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions.
• Execute fabrication tasks involving sheet metal work, welding, soldering, and assembly of aircraft components while adhering to AS9100 quality standards.
• Use coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and other measurement tools to verify component dimensions and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities within Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for traceability and regulatory compliance.
• Assist in root cause analysis of recurring issues to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Support equipment repair, calibration of precision instruments like ammeters and voltmeters, and heavy lifting operations using appropriate safety protocols.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on modifications or upgrades involving aircraft systems or ground support equipment.
• Ensure all work performed complies with aviation safety standards, military specifications (if applicable), and federal regulations governing aircraft maintenance.

Skills

• Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and CAD software such as CATIA or AutoCAD.
• Strong mechanical knowledge related to aircraft airframes, power plants, avionics, and vehicle maintenance.
• Electrical experience including troubleshooting electrical circuits using multimeters (ohmmeters), ammeters, etc.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, welding (mig/tig), soldering, and assembly techniques.
• Experience working within aerospace quality systems such as AS9100 or similar standards.
• Ability to perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other inspection tools.
• Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) pertaining to aircraft maintenance practices.
• Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, heavy lifting equipment, and safety procedures for aviation environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for documenting work accurately and collaborating across teams.
