What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Chippewa Valley Eye Clinic?
Chippewa Valley Eye Clinic has an opening for a full time Business Office Representative. Successful candidates will possess strong working knowledge of CPT and ICD10 coding and solid understanding of private/commercial insurance rules and regulations. Must be highly motivated with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy medical practice, be able to work independently and as a member of a team. Preferred candidate will have previous experience with medical billing.
In this position, you will play a key role in reviewing and analyzing medial billing for office visits, testing, procedures and out patient surgeries. Communication and teamwork skills are essential as staff must correspond with physicians, insurance companies, patients and professional colleagues.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to;
- Utilize electronic medical records to review patient charts and documents for accuracy
- Receive patient phone calls regarding questions, payments concerns etc
- Review payer correspondence & EOB's; take appropriate action to follow up with insurance companies as needed
- Extensive communication with insurance company and/or patients regarding their responsibility
- Follow up on collections timely
- Verify payments received
- Research claims and complete next steps accurately and timely
- Observe legal and ethical guidelines of HIPAA for safeguarding patient & company
- Performs additional duties assigned by manager as needed
